Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei threatened on Monday to target cables, data centres, artificial intelligence facilities and other sites in the region if heavy fighting breaks out again, amid the continuing crisis between Tehran and Washington and political developments linked to the negotiations file.

Rezaei calls for US clarifications on proposal to end war

Rezaei said Tehran considered the latest US response to the proposal to end the war “insufficient”. He added that Iran was not currently responding to the United States and that Washington should provide clarifications on several issues related to the proposal. The Iranian official revealed that Washington had agreed to some of the seven conditions, while others remained unclear.

He linked his threat to target digital infrastructure in the region to the possibility of heavy fighting resuming, identifying cables, data centres and artificial intelligence facilities, along with other sites, among the potential targets. Rezaei’s comments came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held security consultations concerning Iran, following remarks by US President Donald Trump about the possibility of resuming military strikes.

Israel has not decided whether to resume military operations against Iran

Israel’s Channel 13 reported that a decision on resuming military operations had not yet been made. It added that communication with the US military was continuing, describing it as clear and precise, as Israel monitored developments related to the US position on Iran.

Separately, The New York Times reported earlier that Trump had asked the US Defence Department to prepare plans for new military operations against Iran.
