Terms and Conditions
The terms on which Sawti is offered. What we provide, how what we publish may be used, and what we cannot guarantee — without language that hides more than it says.

1Accepting these terms
By using Sawti you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the site.
They are read together with the Privacy Policy; the two govern your relationship with the site.
Before publishing: name the legal entity these terms are made with, its registration number and its address.
2What this site is
Sawti is an independent news platform publishing coverage and breaking news in Arabic, English and French.
Access is free and requires no account. We offer it as it is, and work to keep it available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service and do not undertake to keep any given item published forever.
3Breaking news is a first account, open to correction
A breaking story is by its nature the first thing known, not the last. We publish it because knowing it at the time has value, with everything that incompleteness implies.
Details may change; a story may be corrected or withdrawn if it proves wrong. When we correct, we correct openly on the page itself rather than by quietly deleting.
If you see an error in something we published, tell us at editor@sawti.news. An early correction serves the reader; it does not embarrass the newsroom.
4Machine translation and rewritten alerts
We state this plainly because it bears on how far you should trust what you read:
Sawti uses AI tools in part of its editorial work. Specifically: material is machine-translated between the site's three languages, and breaking items arriving from sources and agencies are rephrased into the site's own wording before they appear.
Editorial decisions — which story runs, which source is trusted, when something is withdrawn — remain with human editors. The tool writes wording; it does not confer credibility.
That said, machine translation remains machine translation. Where meaning differs between languages, the text in its original language governs. If you are quoting us where the exact words matter, go back to the original or write to us.
5Accuracy, and the limits of what we warrant
We take reasonable care in verifying what we publish, but we do not warrant that it is free of error, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.
What we publish is journalism, not advice. It is not legal, medical or financial guidance, and it is not a sound sole basis for a decision that matters to you. Consult a professional.
We are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on the site's content, to the extent the applicable law permits.
6Rights in the content
The material we produce — text, photographs, video and audio — is owned by or licensed to Sawti and protected by copyright.
You may:
- Read the site and share its links freely.
- Quote short extracts for news reporting, criticism or comment, provided the quotation is attributed to Sawti and links to the original item.
You may not republish a whole item, use our material commercially, harvest it in bulk automatically, or use it to train machine models — without prior written permission.
For republication and licensing requests: contact@sawti-eu.info.
Some material appearing on the site — agency photographs, embedded social posts, video clips — belongs to its owners and is subject to their terms, not ours.
7Acceptable use
Use the site as a reader uses a site. You may not:
- Attempt to disrupt the site or load it in ways that harm its availability to others.
- Attempt to reach the editorial systems or any part not meant for the public.
- Harvest content automatically at scale beyond ordinary search-engine indexing.
- Impersonate Sawti or anyone who works for it.
8External links and embedded content
We link to other sites and embed social posts where the coverage calls for it. We do not control those sites, do not endorse their content and are not responsible for it.
Your visit to them is governed by their terms and privacy policies. For what reaches them about you when an embedded post loads, see the Privacy Policy.
9What you send us
If you write to us — a tip, a correction, material — you grant us the right to use what you sent in our journalism, unless you expressly say otherwise.
We take a request for source protection seriously. But do not send anything that puts you at risk over ordinary email: contact us first through the secure route given on the contact page.
10Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when, and continuing to use the site after an amendment means you accept it.
11Governing law
These terms are governed by Belgian law, and the courts of Brussels have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them — without prejudice to the rights the law of your country of residence gives you if you are a consumer in the European Union.
Before publishing: have this clause reviewed by a lawyer. It is drafted on the basis of the Brussels head office and may need changing to match the entity actually registered.
12Contact
For any question about these terms: contact@sawti-eu.info.
