Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan has announced his return to the competition in the 2027 Ramadan drama season with a new popular drama produced by Sadeq Al-Sabah and directed by Peter Mimi, starring Reem Mustafa and Dorra, after an absence spanning three consecutive seasons since the airing of “Jaafar al-Omda” in 2023.
Filming is scheduled to begin next September, while writer Ahmed Mourad has completed four episodes of the series. The title and full cast have not yet been announced.
A popular drama with a different approach
Sadeq Al-Sabah said the series belongs to the popular drama genre, but will be presented in a different and grand manner, with surprises in the story, production and cast.
The series will feature “a large constellation of stars.”
Al-Sabah said Reem Mustafa and Dorra are among those taking part in the series, explaining that it is still too early to announce the full list of stars. Reem Mustafa previously worked with Mohamed Ramadan 10 years ago on the series “Al Ostoura” in 2016.
A return after “Jaafar al-Omda”
The new series comes after Mohamed Ramadan’s absence from Ramadan drama seasons since the series “Jaafar al-Omda,” which aired in 2023 and was written and directed by Mohamed Sami.
The works of Mohamed Ramadan and Reem Mustafa
On the cinema front, Mohamed Ramadan recently appeared in the film “Asad,” a historical drama set in Egypt during the 19th century. He plays an enslaved man who rebels against his circumstances after a forbidden love story ignites the spark of revolution.
The film addresses issues of racial discrimination and social justice. It stars Razane Jammal, Maged El Kedwany, Ali Qassem, Ahmed Dash and Kamel El-Basha, and is directed by Mohamed Diab.
As for Reem Mustafa, she appeared during the 2026 Ramadan season in the series “The Art of War,” alongside Youssef El Sherif, Sherry Adel, Kamal Abu Raya, Mohamed Gomaa and Donia Sami. The series was written by Amr Samir Atallah and directed by Mahmoud Abdel-Tawab Toba.
