France came from behind to beat Belgium 4-1 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis on Monday, scoring four goals from the 77th minute onwards in the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League. In the same group, Italy beat Türkiye 3-1 in Bologna.
France lead as Italy chase in the group
The visitors held on to their lead until the 77th minute, when Désiré Doué equalised for France, triggering the hosts’ late comeback. Four minutes after the equaliser, Rayan Cherki put France ahead after being set up by Michael Olise. Olise added the third in the 88th minute, then scored his second and France’s fourth in the first minute of added time.
Manager Zinedine Zidane’s second-half changes helped turn the match around and transform France’s deficit into a three-goal victory. Olise continued his fine form against Belgium after scoring France’s winner in a 1-0 victory in Brussels in the teams’ first meeting in the second round.
Italy settle Türkiye clash in Bologna
In Bologna, Gianluca Scamacca opened the scoring for Italy in the 26th minute before Aral Şimşir levelled for Türkiye in the 61st. Italy quickly regained the lead through Riccardo Calafiori in the 65th minute, then Pio Esposito sealed the match with the third goal in the 87th.
The victory took Italy to seven points, while Türkiye remained bottom without a point after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat in the competition. Elsewhere on Monday, Cyprus beat Latvia 2-1 and Hungary defeated Ukraine by the same score.
Bosnia and Herzegovina also beat Poland 1-0, while Sweden defeated Romania by the same score. Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Georgia, and Montenegro and Armenia also played out a goalless draw.
