Palestinian authorities documented 19 incidents linked to settler violence in the West Bank since Friday morning, coinciding with the olive harvest season. The incidents included physical assaults on Palestinian workers while they were harvesting crops, causing injuries, as well as the theft of livestock and crops.
Footage documents vehicle being stopped and father assaulted
Video footage circulated by Palestinian and Israeli media showed settlers in two cars stopping a Palestinian vehicle before assaulting a father who was with his son with clubs. The footage also showed the man and his son fleeing the scene, while the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the settlers later stole the vehicle. The Israeli military later said soldiers had removed what it described as Israeli rioters from an area populated by Palestinians.
Wafa also reported that extremist settlers had assaulted Palestinian workers at several locations during the olive-picking season in the West Bank. In another incident, footage broadcast by Palestinian and Israeli media showed an Israeli soldier preventing Palestinians from picking olives, telling them: “Jews have priority over Arabs in everything in this land.”
The Israeli military said it was reviewing reports related to the incidents, as documentation continued of attacks affecting workers, property and crops.
