Actress Sahar Rami denied that she had retired from acting, stressing that her absence in recent years was limited to not taking part in new projects because she had not received any offers, while describing reports that she had withdrawn from the industry for good as mere rumors.
If someone wanted me for an artistic project, they would contact me directly.
Rami said during an interview with journalist Yomna Badrawi on the program “White Paper” on Al-Nahar channel that she could not call a producer or director to ask for an opportunity, based on her belief that work should come naturally, without pursuing or requesting it.
The success of “Fota” and observations on drama
Rami spoke about her participation in the series “Two Others,” explaining that she had not expected the great success achieved by the character “Fota,” and that the reaction of viewers from different age groups to the character was a pleasant surprise.
She expressed her sadness that the series did not have opening credits, considering the inclusion of the actors’ names a right owed to them and to history, as well as a way for audiences to know who took part in the production, particularly when it is rebroadcast years later.
Assessing the drama scene, she said Egyptian drama had developed significantly on the technical level, but noted that the way some productions were made had changed, with stars sometimes being chosen before the script was written, which could negatively affect the quality of the work.
Staying away from social media
Regarding social media, Rami explained that she did not prefer to maintain a constant presence on it because negative comments affected her psychologically, and therefore chose to stay away from it.
Family and cosmetic surgery
Rami also discussed aspects of her personal life, saying that she and the late Hussein El Imam had been planning to escape the pressures of the entertainment industry and live quietly with their family. She added that his death came as a major shock to her, after which she devoted her life to raising her children.
She also denied that there were disagreements or a rift between her and her sister, actress Ola Rami, stressing that her family was the most important thing in her life and that reports to the contrary had no basis in fact.
Regarding cosmetic surgery, Rami said she did not oppose it and might undergo it if necessary, but rejected changing her natural features.
