Israeli artillery shelled the outskirts of Hadatha and Braasheet in southern Lebanon on Tuesday morning, while an Israeli drone dropped a sound bomb on a house on the outskirts of Haris, in the latest attack to hit southern towns and surrounding areas.
Gunfire and shelling hit southern towns
Lebanon’s official National News Agency reported that Israeli forces opened machine-gun fire at dawn towards Beit al-Sayyad and the outskirts of Mansouri in southern Lebanon. The gunfire coincided with artillery shelling and aerial movements in the area. Border areas and nearby towns continue to witness flights by drones and warplanes, alongside intermittent artillery shelling and ground movements.
The continued Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon has worsened the damage and increased the fears of residents who remain in their towns. The current wave of fighting dates back to 2 March last year, when Israel began a war on Lebanon after Hezbollah launched rockets towards northern Israel.
During the military operations, Israeli forces took control of several towns in southern Lebanon. On 20 June last year, a ceasefire was announced, followed by a reduction in the pace of Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon.
However, southern and border areas continued to record intermittent shelling and gunfire, alongside flights by drones and warplanes, including the attacks that hit the outskirts of Hadatha, Braasheet and Haris on Tuesday morning, as well as Beit al-Sayyad and Mansouri.
