Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that a Pakistani national resident was killed and 11 people injured in the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Sunday afternoon, 11 October 2026, in the latest official toll of casualties resulting from the incident.
Injured taken to hospital as damage to passenger terminal assessed
The authority said the injured were immediately taken to hospital to receive the necessary medical care, adding that the attack also caused material damage that the relevant authorities are still working to assess and evaluate. Major General Turki al-Malki, the official spokesman for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, had announced that Passenger Terminal 4 at King Khalid International Airport had been attacked with an unidentified projectile, causing a fire at the targeted site.
Al-Malki said the relevant teams and authorities had begun the necessary field procedures to deal with the fire and secure the site. The statement did not specify the nature of the projectile that struck the terminal or where it had been launched from. In a separate statement linked to security developments around the airport, the coalition announced that Saudi air defences had intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile in the vicinity of King Khalid International Airport.
Link between missile and projectile remains undetermined
The published statements did not conclusively link the intercepted missile to the projectile that struck Passenger Terminal 4. Sunday’s attack came a day after another attack targeted King Khalid International Airport on Saturday afternoon, 10 October 2026.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that Saturday’s attack resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including four citizens and eight residents of different nationalities, and injured a further 309, some of them critically. The death toll from Saturday’s attack included two Bangladeshi residents and one resident each of American, Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, Palestinian and Sudanese nationality.
The authority confirmed that the injured were receiving medical care in several hospitals, as work to assess the material damage continued. The authority had announced the temporary suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport after Saturday’s attack, pending completion of the damage assessment and verification of the safety of the airport’s facilities, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
