GatesAir plans to showcase its new Maxiva XTK software-based exciter at IBC2026, scheduled to take place from September 11 to 14 at the RAI Amsterdam convention center, as a signal-processing platform supporting global standards for digital television and DAB/DAB+ radio and compatible with previous generations of transmitters.

Advanced processing and software flexibility

The company said the device was designed to support global digital transmission standards, combining advanced signal processing with transport stream over Internet Protocol (TSoIP) capabilities and software-based flexibility to simplify current broadcasting operations and prepare for future transmission technologies.

The Maxiva XTK supports key digital television standards including DVB-T2, ATSC 1.0, ATSC 3.0 and ISDB-Tb, as well as Brazil’s emerging DTV+ standard, while its software architecture extends to DAB and DAB+ radio networks.

The device is built on an advanced platform based on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA), providing greater processing capacity and integrating real-time adaptive correction technology to improve signal quality across a wide range of radio-frequency amplifier configurations, regardless of the network architecture.

A unified, scalable platform

According to GatesAir, the Maxiva XTK provides a unified technology platform for the Maxiva transmitter family, supporting current transmission requirements while allowing future digital standards to be added through firmware updates. Its modular design also enables the addition of internal options for satellite and radio-frequency signal reception, enhancing the platform’s long-term scalability.

Compatibility with previous generations

The Maxiva XTK is scheduled to be supplied as standard with GatesAir’s latest Maxiva television transmitters. It will also be compatible with previous Maxiva transmitters operating in the UHF and VHF bands, as well as a number of legacy Harris digital television systems.

The company believes this compatibility will allow broadcasters to update signal processing while retaining their existing transmission infrastructure, helping to reduce upgrade costs and simplify the transition to new digital standards. Visitors to IBC2026 will be able to see the device alongside GatesAir’s range of television and radio transmission solutions.
