A Palestinian was killed and others were injured on Thursday in an air strike and gunfire carried out by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, as demolitions targeted evacuated buildings and residential blocks in Beit Lahia, eastern Gaza City and Rafah. A medical source said Palestinian Muhammad Khalla was killed and others were injured in an Israeli drone strike on a gathering of civilians in the al-Saftawi neighbourhood, north of Gaza City.

Displaced person injured by gunfire east of Jabalia

Earlier, a medical source reported that a Palestinian had sustained moderate injuries after Israeli military vehicles opened heavy fire towards tents housing displaced people at the Halawa camp, east of Jabalia town in the northern Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Information Centre also reported that the injury was caused by heavy fire from Israeli vehicles and cranes directed at tents housing displaced people in the camp, located in Jabalia al-Balad.

The Israeli army carried out a series of demolitions of evacuated residential blocks in areas where it is deployed in Beit Lahia town in the northern Gaza Strip, east of Gaza City and in Rafah in the south. Palestinians said loud explosions were heard overnight and on Thursday morning as the Israeli army detonated booby-trapped vehicles in the middle of evacuated residential blocks in those areas.

Israeli military vehicles also opened fire towards areas east of al-Qarara town, north of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, and east of the Maghazi camp in central Gaza. The developments came amid continued Israeli breaches of the ceasefire agreement announced on 10 October 2025.

Since October 2023, Israel has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and injured more than 175,000 others, while destroying about 90% of the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
