Israeli attacks continued in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, with developments on the ground resulting in the killing of a Palestinian in Gaza as the third anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation and the outbreak of the war on Gaza were marked, amid escalating Israeli forces’ operations and settler attacks in various parts of the West Bank.

Israeli strikes continue despite ceasefire

The Palestinian was killed a day after five Palestinians were killed and others wounded by Israeli forces in different parts of the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian medical sources on Tuesday, 6 October. Israeli strikes continued in the territory despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on 10 October 2025 and halted the most intense phase of the fighting.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed in the territory since the outbreak of the war has risen to more than 74,000, including about 1,145 Palestinians killed since the ceasefire began. The ministry says women and children account for about half of the victims recorded by it.

Worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza and the West Bank

Most of Gaza’s population, numbering about two million, continues to live in camps and temporary shelters after repeated waves of displacement, while large areas of the territory’s cities and neighbourhoods have been destroyed. Restrictions on the entry of goods and aid also continue to worsen the food crisis and humanitarian conditions. In the West Bank, Israeli forces’ operations continued alongside settler attacks on Palestinians, their property and their agricultural land.

Recorded attacks include assaults on communities and the destruction of crops, trees and water sources, as well as the establishment of outposts and restrictions on Palestinians’ access to their land. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported more than 1,600 settler attacks from the start of 2026 to 14 September, resulting in injuries or property damage, or both.

The average number of recorded attacks reached 6.7 a day, compared with five attacks a day in 2025. According to the UN office, demolitions, evictions, settler attacks and related restrictions displaced more than 4,300 Palestinians in the West Bank from the start of 2026.

Settler attacks and restrictions on access to land accounted for about 60% of recorded displacement cases during the year. The developments come three years after the 7 October 2023 attack carried out by Hamas and Palestinian factions, followed by Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip.

During the same period, military operations and settler attacks intensified in the West Bank, alongside the expansion of settlement activity and tighter restrictions on Palestinians’ movement.
