The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said its naval forces had carried out a military operation in Hudaydah governorate targeting sites belonging to the Houthis, which it said constituted legitimate military targets, as part of efforts to protect navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The coalition forces’ official spokesman, Major General Turki al-Malki, said the operation had resulted in the destruction of weapons depots and storage facilities for explosive boats and naval mines.

Thwarting imminent attacks on waterways

He added that the forces had thwarted a plan to carry out imminent attacks targeting waterways in the area south of the Red Sea. Al-Malki said, in a statement posted on his account on the X platform, that the military operation was part of the coalition’s efforts to protect maritime navigation security in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The coalition linked the targeting of sites in Hudaydah to the thwarting of attacks that it said had been under preparation against the waterways, while its naval forces carried out the announced operation.
