The Prisoners’ Media Office said Israeli forces arrested 17 Palestinians during widespread raids in the West Bank, noting that former prisoners were among those detained. The campaign focused partly on Tulkarm governorate, where the forces arrested nine residents after raiding and searching their homes.

The Palestinian News Agency quoted local sources as saying the arrests in Tulkarm included former prisoners Iyad Husni Nasser and Issam Faqih from Nur Shams camp; Mahmoud Riyad Farij and Mohammed Ghanem from the Shuweika suburb north of the city; Islam Mohammed Abu Samaha and Mustafa Awda from southern Tulkarm; and Alaa Shaheen from the Irtah suburb.

The agency added that the forces also arrested Luay al-Zandeeq after raiding his home in Nur Shams camp, and Muneer Abdullah Omar after raiding his home in Faroun, south of Tulkarm. In Jenin governorate, Israeli forces raided the town of Jaba, south of the city, and arrested former prisoner Ahmed Salatna.

The forces also entered Qabatiya, south of Jenin, after a special unit infiltrated the town, and arrested Mohammed Nazzal, whom the Palestinian Information Centre described as a former prisoner. The raids extended to Nablus governorate, where the forces entered the city through the Huwwara checkpoint and raided Salem village east of Nablus, while also closing the entrances to Madama village south of the city.

In Hebron governorate, Israeli soldiers fired tear-gas grenades near the entrance to Idhna. The forces arrested a young man during a raid on al-Tabaqa village, south of Dura, as well as the young man Mohammed Murad al-Huraybat.

Settler attacks target villages and olive crops

At the same time as the arrest campaign, settlers attacked Ein Yabrud village east of Ramallah, while others uprooted electricity poles in the town of Deir Dibwan, east of the governorate, causing a power cut in the al-Marj area. In al-Mughayir village, north-east of Ramallah, settlers stole olives from the eastern plain during the harvest season.

Settlers also carried out patrols around Palestinian homes in the al-Himma community in the northern Jordan Valley, amid residents’ fears that attacks targeting their presence in the area could escalate. In Bethlehem governorate, Palestinian Ziad Younes was injured when settlers beat him during their attack on al-Khader, south of the governorate.

Attacks intensify since start of harvest season

Attacks by Israeli forces and settlers on Palestinian farmers have intensified since the beginning of the olive-picking season in early October. According to Palestinian bodies, the attacks have included beatings, preventing farmers from reaching their land, stealing crops, and uprooting and damaging trees.
