Eighteen people, including two children, were injured in a Russian missile and drone attack targeting the Ukrainian capital Kyiv during the night of September 16-17, 2026, according to an updated toll announced by Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The Kyiv military administration said the attack damaged more than 10 sites, noting that a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were among the injured.

Damage reported to buildings and railway lines

The damage affected residential buildings, educational facilities, offices, warehouses and vehicles. Damage was reported in the Dniprovskyi and Solomianskyi districts, while warehouses, buildings and vehicles were also damaged in other parts of the capital. Ukrainian Railways said facilities and railway lines had been damaged, prompting temporary changes to city train services until repairs were completed.

The attack disrupted water supplies and reduced water pressure on Kyiv's left bank and in several areas on the right bank. The city's water utility later announced that facilities had resumed operations and supplies had returned to normal.
