Greek Kastellorizo holds successive layers of history across no more than 10 square kilometres
Kastellorizo lies at the far eastern edge of Greece and the European Union, about 2 kilometres from the Turkish coast. Despite covering between 9 and 10 square kilometres, the island brings together remains spanning the earliest settlements through Byzantine, Ottoman and Italian rule, alongside notable natural and architectural landmarks.
